GERMANTOWN, (Philadelphia), PA - March 8, 2013 (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police say two teenagers who were caught on video robbing a 9-year-old girl in Germantown are in police custody Saturday. Detectives say the two suspects, a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old, were arrested after their parents saw the surveillance video. The robbery happened Friday morning outside of Jaques Mini Market at Wakefield and Ashmead streets. In surveillance video, the teen boys are seen approaching the girl after she left the store. A short time later, they were caught fleeing with the child's wallet, which contained $13. "I think it's terrible, I think it's a disgrace," said Dorothy Enis. "It's ridiculous. It does not make sense at all. This should not be happening because the child is innocent," said Deborah Jackson-Smith. As word spread about the robbery, anger grew in the neighborhood. "I don't think it's any of these guys around here because they know we will protect," said Derek Enis. The victim's parents did not want to be interviewed however the girl was in good spirits while Action News spoke to her off camera. She even continued on to school after the robbery. "At least she wasn't harmed that's the main thing. She wasn't harmed," said Jackson-Smith. One of the suspects was seen wearing an Addidas sweatshirt; the other was wearing a Puma sweatshirt. They were turned into police by their parents. Police have not released their identities. Both will be charged with robbery." /> GERMANTOWN, (Philadelphia), PA - March 8, 2013 (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police say two teenagers who were caught on video robbing a 9-year-old girl in Germantown are in police custody Saturday. I'd do the same thing but I'd just call the cops and tell them to come pick them up. Let the kids think the police did good detective work.

As long as I'm not fined haha. If they have to do community service or something that'd be great.

Did the video not work?

The boys are both black. Don't know about the victim.

Re: Teens Who Robbed 9 Year Old of $13 Turned in by Parents!

I think it would be better if the parents handed the kids over to the parents of the child. After the riots in london a mother handed her kid into the police for stealing a item of clothing (IIRC), it was the girls first conviction but she got 1 and a half years inside. Im really not so sure I would be quick to hand my children into the authoritys, then again im sure my kids wouldnt be robbing a 9 year old (or anyone for that matter)

The 9 year old continued on to school, which I think was very brave on her part.
