^ Doors NEVER on the latch, had to be locked at all times, Halloween candy had to be inspected before we ate any of it, fruit and homemade stuff thrown out automatically, never of course take any food/ drink from strangers. Us kids even were taught how to use firearms, basic stuff. He would have had us packing if kids were allowed, lol! This was in Texas, too, btw. Then onward to Maryland, where we really needed it.
