Teen Charged with Drugging Teachers Coffee Florida Teen Charged with Drugging Teacher’s Coffee Updated: Saturday, 21 May 2011, 10:41 AM CDT Published : Saturday, 21 May 2011, 10:41 AM CDT (NewsCore) - KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- A middle school student in southern Florida was facing charges Saturday after drugging his teacher's coffee with a blood pressure medication pill, The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported. Osceola County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Twis Lizasuain told the paper deputies booked the 13-year-old student, whose name was not released, into a juvenile detention center without bond after he admitted Monday to putting a 0.2mg pill of the prescription medication clonidine into teacher Danielle Jones' coffee cup at Discovery Intermediate School in Kissimmee, Fla., about 20 miles (32 kilometers) south of Orlando. Clonidine is used to treat high blood pressure and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It was not known if the boy suffers from ADHD; his mother told police he takes clonidine to help him sleep. Jones reportedly suffered from dizziness, nausea, extreme thirst and an inability to keep her eyes open after ingesting the drugged coffee. She went home early in the day and later recovered. The boy said he drugged Jones because he "wanted her to go to sleep" after she yelled at him in class, according to deputies. He said three other students saw him put the pill into Jones' coffee. He was facing a first-degree felony charge of poisoning food with the intent to injure, and Jones plans to press charges against him.
