I think it was a good choice to send it to them all. Then maybe then the offending parties would not feel singled out and be more inclined to wash their children.

That's what I was thinking. We all know damn good and well had she singled out one or two children there would have been some kind of backlash about some form of discrimination. Damned if you do, damned if you don't in this situation.

I still think the offenders will ignore it and blame it on everyone else.

Totally agree on that one too. I don't understand parents who let their children go ANYWHERE filthy, let alone to school like that. I feel terrible for the kiddos.

I doubt it was all the kids and she didn't want to single them out. However she should have quietly reported it to the higher up staff in the school.

No. like poor hygiene is illegal and teacher usually hit up CPS first. In layman terms "lucky parents shouldn't complain".

in my experience with school I have come to the realization that smelly kids get picked on a lot. I used to call this kid cat piss all the time. why? because that's what he smelled like

There will always be some kids whose parents aren't taking care of them very well who will be messy or dirty, etc. But this letter won't get to the root of the problem. If a kid is dirty because they are being neglected, this letter isn't going to help.

I think it will help as it has gathered so much attention. So little speak out and sometimes when they do then cps fails to correct the matter, often with tragic results. Too many children are abuse and neglected.

And sometimes even good parents may miss something, like BO at 9 or 10, because you still see them as a kid and not starting puberty.

I believe in the ole "it takes a village to raise a child.

Yeah, CPS drops the ball a lot. Of course, the bad parents/guardians should get the blame but cps is there for a reason. In Illinois they are looking into why so many kids with cps files died in the last year.
