This shocking video footage shows a cruel teacher in Egypt committing heartless acts of violence on his young pupils.

The man, named as Magdi el-Shaar, is shown seeming to mark children's homework before smacking them with a ruler.

More than 10 children, all aged under 10, are seen being physically abused.

Police said the man was arrested and questioned by local prosecutors and the children's centre shut down.

The man blamed his behaviour on the recent Egyptian demonstrations saying: "Beating and corporal punishment are the best means for disciplining children especially after the January 25 revolt."

Sickeningly the teacher smiles throughout his assaults, with one young girl receiving a particularly sickening beating as he hits her and pulls her hair.

Another man can be heard laughing off camera throughout the sick film, which was recorded by a woman wearing a veil.

Oh I would love to have that guy come over here and whack my kid, he'd be wearing is nuts for earrings. Although in my son's case it probably would have done him some good, but I digress. The thing that really pissed me off was the people giggling in the back ground. Did anyone else have corporal punishment in school? I can remember in middle school they were still whacking kids. I copped the cane a few times when i was a kid before it was outlawed around about 1985/86, but i know i deserved it. The worse thing they ever did was to ban its use. The mear threat of physical punishment was usually enough to control most kids, i seen kids that pissed their pants when the realisation hit them they were about to be whacked with that thin wodden rod.

i got hit once in school by a dickhead of a teacher, my mother found out, laid charges of assault and got the dick arrested and charged, he lost his job and gladly will never get the chance to hit a school kid again. moral of the story, my moms got my back
