Brazil, A car has deliberately ploughed into teenagers and young people as they skateboarded along a street.

One man that was hit clung on to the black SUV as the desperate driver tried to shake him off while accelerating towards dozens of others.

Disturbing footage shows another man throw himself out the way as the car comes at him at speed.

Other skateboarders, shocked at seeing the car go past, jump off their boards and chase after the car, some even throw their board in a bid to get the driver to stop.

Many then start hitting the car, smashing the windows and denting the bodywork, but the driver manages to escape and run off abandoning the car in the road.

Paramedics were quickly on the scene and took at least one man away in a neck brace on a stretcher.

It is believed most of those affected had minor injuries and the driver, who has not been identified, is still on the run.

The young people were taking part in an event to mark World Skatebaording Day, which was on Wednesday, June 21, but was celebrated in Sao Paulo in Brazil on Sunday when many of the city's roads were closed so it could go ahead.
