Surgeon Charged in Liposuction Death

A former Encino cosmetic surgeon was charged with involuntary manslaughter Tuesday after allegedly giving a deadly cocktail of drugs during a liposuction procedure, authorities said.

Ehab Aly Mohamed, 46, was also charged with elder abuse in a separate incident involving a different patient. Mohamed is already jailed on previous burglary and forgery convictions, according to a Los Angeles County District Attorney's office statement.

Mohamed's involuntary manslaughter stems from the August 21, 2010 death of Sharon Carpenter. Carpenter, 61, died in Mohamed's office after a 10-hour liposuction procedure.

During the surgery, she was given a combination of lidocaine, fentanyl and oxycodone. She died in Mohamed's office after midnight, according to the statement.

LAPD Detective Joel Price told NBC4 that Mohamed never showed any signs of remorse for his patient's death

And the detective offered another bizarre detail about the case.

"He was, in fact, performing medical procedures on himself," adding that when police officers arrested Mohamed, the surgeon was hospitalized and, "in bad shape."

On May 21, 2010, a 77-year-old patient of Mohamed's passed out during a liposuction procedure and still suffers from related health problems, according to the District Attorney's statement.

Mohamed faces up to 10 years in prison if he's convicted.

Medical Board to Raise Allegations Against an Encino Physician

A physician in Encino has been barred by a judge to carry out some specific kinds of cosmetic surgery as he could be accused by the Medical Board of California for threatening life of two patients while treating them and one of them even passed away.

Last week, Dr. Ehab Aly Mohamed was strictly restricted to carry out two types of cosmetic surgeries - one that requires perforating patient's skin such as VASER liposuction and other that involves use of the anesthetic drug lidocaine. He has also been prohibited to recommend or administer any narcotic analgesic on new patients.

The Medical Board has raised an appeal against Mohamed and has demanded suspension of his medical license for being careless and incompetent while performing surgeries that even took life of one.

The order against Mohammed was issued during a hearing in Los Angeles on Thursday by an administrative law judge, who also felt it justified considering his license's suspension but it was not possible due to certain terms and conditions. The accusations on Mohammed will be imposed by the Medical Board in a hearing on January 10.

There also have been more allegations against Mohammed, which includes bogusly representing himself as a professor at Harvard Medical School and boasting about himself by saying he was carrying out a Harvard Medical School clinical study and giving rebates to patients if they become part of the study. No schedule has been confirmed of hearing of these allegations.

CA has conjugal weekend visits with little hotel room-like facilities, if you're married and he behaves in jail.

They are infrequent though the last I knew. Once every three or four months, if memory serves.

You have to bring all the food and utensils though. They even have playgrounds. Seriously

Oh, and just for the record, I've never done it. I've seen, "Prison Wives."

Omg Prison Wives. Those dumb broads pissed me off. One woman kept uprooting her kids to move to be closer to her husband (who was in prison when she met him) and changing schools, living off of government aid, sending him money. I had to stop watching.

I knew a woman who used to write to a serial killer on Death Row that never made the news here.

He died after refusing to have cancer treatments. I don't recall which body part was affected. She drove from PA to AL to see him twice.

The last I knew, she was writing to his son and engaged, but, she bought the ring. She was chatting with his mother.

I lost touch with her after her computer was confiscated and legal issues over her, "relationship," with the guy who died.

She had her daughter taken away prior to the legal incident, had gotten her back, then lost her again over it.

Sad and pathetic to give up your child for a man, especially one in jail for assault
