Re: Surfside Florida Building Collapse
I hope there will be more apartment videos from such sources as the security cams, etc. Chilling to watch the building begin to fall.

Where are you? We are just north in Davie. We pass by that building everytime we leave my wife's grandparents place. They live only 5 blocks south on A1A. Her grandmother said collapse woke her up that night.

Chris is protected by the Covid -19 vaccine, and the Gay Jewish Space Lasers. He is doing just fine.

Re: Surfside Florida Building Collapse
Probably a really dumb question but can somebody please explain to me why this is taking so long? They have lots and lots of heavy duty machinery that is capable of grabbing and moving pieces of concrete. Why can't they just use the big ol' claw on an excavator-type machine, grab a piece of debris, move it aside, grab another piece, move it aside, and so on and so forth, until all layers are cleared? I can understand not wanting to disrupt the pile and possibly further trap people, but at this point what's there to fucking lose? If there are any additional survivors, which is unlikely, they're not going to make it much longer. Risking further collapse in the pile is justified if it means getting survivors out quicker. Side note - I wonder what it smells like there. |

Re: Surfside Florida Building Collapse
News story today says that they plan on demolishing the portion of the condos that are still standing as early as tomorrow (Sun July 4) in hopes of bringing it down safely, and ahead of Tropical storm Elsa. Sources say it has remained dangerous to the crews working to find victims and they’d like to bring it down in a controlled manner so that crews, and surrounding properties aren’t at risk. The death toll stands at 24 with 124 people still unaccounted for. |
