A 9 -year-old was burned with hot water last Thursday Nov 20, 2014, inside the house he live in. The stepmother of the boy, the maid Carla Vieira Matias, was accused of the crime and was arrested and fined in the act on the afternoon of Tuesday Nov 25, 2014 on charges of torture, prison, emergency omission and intellectual abandonment, since the child was removed from the school. The boy was referred by the Council for Child Protection the State Children's Hospital with second and third degree burns.

Initially, the accused denied the crime, but then confessed during the testimony. According to the delegate Klaudine Steps, the maid claimed she was motivated by the fact that the child have messed up the whole house while she was gone. "She said she came home at night , the child had gone to a neighbor's house because he was very nervous about the situation. She sent for him and then had him get on he’s knees and threw hot water on him.
