Thanks Aria for the posts. I probably incorrectly assumed that the kid was probably part of the issue...ie he knew what was going on. But after reading what you said, maybe he DID know but felt powerless to stop it. He wanted to tell, but was afraid. Who knows!?
It is absolutely disgusting what happened though and those parents deserve a severe form of punishment.

Why would you? Who would think there might be a girl locked in the basement? You may feel guilty, but, there was nothing you could have done not knowing.

At least this girl finally escaped. Some don't, like poor Sylvia Likens! The crazy families seem to leave out the family member being tortured somewhere. I don't think it would have come up in conversation.
