South Yorkshire Prostitutes Target OAPs

PROSTITUTES are plaguing pensioners on a South Yorkshire estate by calling at their homes and offering sex for £2.50, it has been claimed.

The vice girls are offering cut-price sex to elderly men living in bungalows on the Oval estate, Conisbrough.

Their doorstep calls were disclosed by residents in a Police and Community Together meeting organised by local bobbies in the Ivanhoe Centre this week.

One resident said: “They have been knocking on doors offering sex.

“One knocked on my door and when I answered she said ‘sorry, I’ve got the wrong place’.

“The going rate is £2.50, what sort of girl would do such a thing?”

An elderly resident said: “It is true, there have been ladies of the night knocking on doors and offering sex for £2.50.

“The area is all flats and bungalows and these women have been touring around looking for business. It’s been going on for about four weeks and it’s the talk of the village.”

South Yorkshire Police confirmed the issue had been raised and officers fear the women may be looking for vulnerable people to burgle or rob.

PC Rob Scarrow, of Mexborough police station, said: “We are aware of females visiting males’ addresses offering certain services.

“Last year, there was a similar problem in Mexborough. People there were being exploited by these females.

“We will try to educate residents not to let them in.”

Sergeant Dave Jones, of Conisbrough safer neighbourhood team, said: “If there are opportunists taking advantage of vulnerable people we need to safeguard them.”

He said a Neighbourhood Watch group is to be set up.

During the meeting residents told of an increasing problem of anti-social behaviour in the area.

One said: “It is getting terrible here. People are so frightened they won’t say anything.”
