Somali Immigrant Kills 3, Injures 5 in Knife Attack, Germany

Three people were killed and five seriously injured in a knife attack in southern Germany on Friday by a 24-year-old Somali immigrant, described by officials as having been placed under compulsory psychiatric treatment in recent days.

Police stopped and arrested the attacker in the town of Wuerzburg by firing a bullet through his thigh. They said his injuries were not life-threatening.

"Three are dead and five very seriously injured," regional Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann said after arriving on the scene. "With the most seriously injured we are not sure they will survive."

The man had lived in Wuerzburg since 2015, the year Germany opened its borders to more than a million migrants and refugees fleeing war and poverty. His life was not in danger and he was being questioned by police in hospital, Herrmann said.

"His condition had been noticed in recent months, including violent tendencies, and a few days ago he was put into compulsory psychiatric treatment," Herrmann said.

Later, he told public television that, according to one witness, the suspect had called "Allahu akbar", an Arabic phrase meaning "God is great" and often associated with acts of Islamist terrorism before starting his spree.

"That suggests a possible Islamist motive, and that is also part of the investigation," he added.

Among the three dead was a young boy and one of his parents, Main Post newspaper said.

As is standard practice in Germany, police did not release the name of the suspect.

Police said there was no indication that there were any other attackers, and that the situation was now under control.

Videos posted on social media showed a seemingly barefoot man holding a long knife being warded off by other men with chairs until police arrived. Another video appeared to show blood on the ground.

The videos matched the reported location of the attacks on and around Wuerzburg's central Barbarossaplatz, though it was not immediately possible to confirm when they had been made.

Reuters footage from the scene showed dozens of police and emergency vehicles in attendance.

Wuerzburg, an ancient city of 130,000 people some 100 km (62 miles) south-east of Frankfurt, was five years ago the scene of a knife attack on a train by a 17-year-old Pakistani asylum seeker in which five people were injured, two seriously.

Somali immigrant A. J, 24, was shot dead after slaughtering three women while shouting 'Allahu Akbar' during the rampage in Wurzburg.

He killed 24-year-old S. W. from the small town of Spessart who had travelled to the city to buy a bridesmaid dress for her best friend's wedding.

Also slain, was Brazilian national C. H., a teacher, who had leapt to the defence of her 11-year-old daughter as the attacker marauded through a department store.

Then he killed 82-year-old woman, J.H. who tried to stop the attack on a girl.

Six others were wounded including a 15-year-old girl and a 73-year-old woman, I. L, who was stabbed 13 times.

Her son told: 'My mother was about to go to the tram stop when she felt stabs in her back and neck.

'The perpetrator missed her main artery by two millimetres. Otherwise, my mother would be dead.'

The suspect, who has a history of mental health problems, has since told police he was carrying out a 'personal jihad'.

Investigators have found Islamist literature in his bedroom and anti-terrorist authorities are probing his links with extremist groups.

Witnesses said he shouted 'Allahu Akbar' and was beaten by passersby who hit him with a broomstick, branches and shopping bags in a bid to stop the massacre.

Sadly it's the way the world or the human race is going.

It was explained to me 20 years ago. The first humans were solidarity. Then came the ice age and nearly made humans extinct.

The only humans to survive were the ones who grouped and worked together to survive. The first Clans.

Then Clans popped up all over the place and were constantly fighting eachother. To survive these clans began to join to form the first cities.

But the same thing happens, Cities began attacking cities gaining every more size and power. So cities banned together to form countries.

After ww1 and ww2. Countries began to unite like NATO and the European Union.

And some believe the next progression is No More Countries, just 1 united world.

But first they must dilute the countries of their culture and nationalism.
