Smokin' Joe Frazier Passes Away At Age 67 “Smokin’” Joe Frazier, a bruising boxer who was the first fighter to defeat Muhammad Ali and held the heavyweight crown for five years, has died after a fight with liver cancer. He was 67. “We The Family of the 1964 Olympic Boxing Heavyweight Gold Medalist, Former Heavyweight Boxing Champion and International Boxing Hall of Fame Member Smokin’ Joe Frazier, regrets to inform you of his passing,” his family said in a statement released tonight. “He transitioned from this life as ‘One of God’s Men,’ on the eve of November 7, 2011 at his home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ali had the flash and the words but Frazier just boxed and got the shit done. Sorry to see he passed so soon. Rocky was on AMC tonight, probably just a coincidence. |

Fucking all choked up, I grew up on this guys fights..what a warrior, great guy too he didn't need all of Ali's flair for theatrics to sell a fight his fists told the story, I am not a religious man at all..but if I am wrong and there is a God then surely even God would listen to Joe's wise words, rest in peace fella.   |
