Slaughter of 100 Sled Dogs
Ok so what the fuck is wrong with people. "hey Bill, your job to today is to shoot and massgrave these 100 dogs" "sure thing boss, right on it" WTF!!!! I would have quit on THE spot and reported the company. VANCOUVER (Reuters) - Canadian authorities are investigating allegations that 100 sled dogs were cruelly shot to death because tourism slowed after the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, officials said on Monday. The animals hauled tourists on backcountry sled trips near the Olympic-host community of Whistler, British Columbia. The dogs appear to have been "slaughtered" inhumanely in April, shortly after the Winter Games ended, according to an animal protection group investigating the incident. The incident became public after an employee of Outdoor Adventures Whistler filed a compensation claim with the province, saying he was suffering from stress after being forced to shoot the animals and bury them. Multiple shots were needed to kill some dogs, others were killed as they attempt to flee, and some were still alive when they were dumped in a mass grave, CKNW radio in Vancouver reported, quoting the worker's compensation claim. The man said he was told to kill the animals, which were part of a pack of 300 dogs, because tourism demand has slowed, CKNW reported. It is legal for an owner to kill an animal in British Columbia, but it must be done humanly, said Lorie Chortyk, general manager of the British Columbia Society for the Prevent of Cruelty to Animals. "This doesn't appear to meet any standard of what is humane. ... This appears to be a slaughter," said Chortyk, whose agency investigates animal cruelty cases and has the authority to recommend criminal charges. Outdoor Adventures Whistler told CKNW radio in Vancouver it was aware the animals had been killed, but was "completely unaware of the details of the incident" until Sunday when it was given the man's compensation claim. Re: Slaughter of 100 Sled Dogs
I despise the human race. We use animals when it suits us and then dispose of them without a care. By that I mean all of those who are responsible for activities such as this and all of those who use and abuse. Those are the members of the 'human' race I despise. I suppose they assumed no one would want the dogs or there were too many waiting in shelters to be adopted, so it was cheaper and easier just to 'get rid of them'. Talk about throw away society. |

Re: Slaughter of 100 Sled Dogs
This is the most disgusting act of humanity I have read in a long time. The Owner/(former owner) is claiming the dogs were old and sick??? What a fucking crock. Does it make it better that 1/3 of your dogs were sick then? Fuck's sake. And dude claimed workers comp because he was sooo traumatized? Say NO! It's an easy word to say. No. See? I did it again. NO. Oi. I should stop before I get really mad....... Too late.

Re: Slaughter of 100 Sled Dogs
There was a wright up in yesterdays local paper about the sled company here, the were very upset over all this, they only have 15 dogs, any that get injured or old are retired, into there home, they built a level house so no dog would have to do stairs. They all run around the property all the time, they never chain them, they just pen them at night.
