The shooting took place moments before rapper T.I. was meant to perform. Authorities say a dispute between two groups traveled from a top floor down to outside the green room at the Irving Plaza concert hall. Performers Maino and Uncle Murda were on stage at the time.

NEW YORK (AP) — Police have identified the four victims shot following a fistfight in the VIP area of a New York City hip-hop concert featuring rapper T.I.

Police say they've obtained video that shows part of the fatal shooting inside a New York City concert venue.

They say Thursday a man can be seen in surveillance footage firing off one round just outside a green room at Irving Plaza, in Manhattan's Union Square.

Authorities said Thursday that 33-year-old Ronald McPhatter was fatally shot in the stomach during Wednesday night's shooting. His brother, Shanduke McPhatter, runs an anti-violence nonprofit called Gangstas Making Astronomical Community Changes. He hasn't returned a message.

Authorities say Brooklyn-based rapper Roland Collins was shot in the leg. He goes by the stage name Troy Ave.

They say 26-year-old Maggie Heckstall was shot in the leg and 34-year-old Christopher Vinson was shot in the chest.

Collins, Heckstall and Vinson are in stable condition.

Investigators say it doesn't appear T.I. was involved in the dispute. They've not made any arrests.
His representatives had no comment about the shooting.
New York City's police commissioner has called rap artists "basically thugs" a day after a shooting at a hip-hop concert left one person dead and three others injured.
Quote:
In an interview Thursday with WCBS radio, William Bratton cited "the crazy world of these so-called rap artists who are basically thugs that basically celebrate violence they did all their lives." He says, "Unfortunately, that violence often times manifests itself during their performances."

Shots rang out Wednesday night at a venue where rapper T.I. was getting ready to perform. Performers Maino and Uncle Murda were on stage at the time.

Bratton says even after rappers become famous, they "continue hanging out with the same people they hung out with when they came out of that world of desperation, poverty, and crime."
UPDATE: The shooting was the culmination of a beef between Troy Ave and Maino's crews, NY Daily News reports. Around 10 PM, a physical altercation in a third floor Irving Plaza green room burst out; someone produced a 9mm handgun and fired five shots. Banga was struck, and stumbled downstairs and collapsed next to a bar.

Banga's mother believes that her son died saving Troy Ave. “He actually cared a lot about Troy Ave. My wish is that Troy Ave cared as much about my son as he cared about him. I say that because I watched how my son would always bend over backwards to help him,” Rose said.

Supposedly, Troy Ave WAS the shooter and shot himself in the leg to cover it up. However, there is clear video evidence showing him cocking and firing the weapon. Dumbass. Good riddance!
