Re: Shooting at Jacksonville Arcade Live on Twitch
Any time you surround yourself with people you do not personally know - you are not safe. It doesn’t matter the setting. People at an NRA meet up are probably safer - because even bat shit crazy bastards know that there are too many people with guns at that specific event. |

Re: Shooting at Jacksonville Arcade Live on Twitch
Lisa Marie Nowak drove cross country in a diaper to attack her imagined Internet lover’s Girlfriend and her grand planned was foiled when her victim rolled up the window of her car. Nowak, if you don’t know, is smarter and mentally healthier than you’ll ever be. You can look up her insane academic knowledge, as a literal fucking rocket scientist, and the first female astronaut to have been in charge of her own missions, etc... She is and was and will always be one of the most resilient and mentally impressive people to have ever walked the earth, yet she’ll be forever remember as the astronaut who was arrested after driving cross country in a diaper with a maniacal kidnapping plot that failed immediately. Regardless of what you think you know about mental health, Nowak is proof that you’re wrong. Anyone is capable of going off the deep end. It doesn’t take mental illness. It takes an accumulated amount of stress that you can no longer handle. And every man, woman, and child on this planet has a limit. Most of us have no idea how close we really are to a mental breakdown. Mental illness is the scapegoat of the Republican Party. The party in the US that is not only the least educated, but also the proudest of having the least education. Republicans value faith over knowledge and credit religion for resilience. They say things like, “If you don’t believe in God then what is keeping you from raping whoever you want.” The atheist responds, “I do rape whoever I want. I just happen to want to rape zero people.” The theist is truly an epiphany away from rape and murder. All it takes is the thought they are alone and that they can end their own suffering with a bullet and then they’re out the door with their large collection of guns. Care to argue? Almost every single American mass shooter has been a middle class white male conservative with a religious background. In fact, there isn’t a case of a single atheist mass shooter. Nor is there a single case in which mental illness was the actual suspected cause of any mass shooting in America’s long history of mass shootings. The earliest school massacre, btw, dates back to the 1800s. An earlier slice of uneducated Americans gun-worshipping propaganda posted on this thread suggested that shootings are a modern phenomenon. This, of course, is not true. The earliest shootings coincide with the earliest guns. There is a time in American history where guns were not regulated at all and every Tom, Dick and Harry in the schoolyard had them and they were often used to settle disputes. What’s different between a shooting today and a shooting in 1902? Only the number of rounds that can be fired in quick succession. Thus, with little to no research one can easily ascertain that the only common factor of all shootings in America and worldwide is the presence of the firearm used to shoot. You may wish to argue some of these points. Don’t. You are no Lisa Marie Nowak. You aren’t enlightened, educated, or (based on your presence here) even likely to have something that qualifies for good mental health. You’re a breakup, car accident, late fee, lost job, or unpaid debt notice away from snapping and killing someone yourself. Don’t act like you aren’t. You don’t know two fucking things about mental health. Every now and then... we all get sad. The best way to protect yourself from a moment of sadness at the wrong fucking time is to not have a gun nearby when it inevitably comes. But, if you’re determined not to listen to a stranger on the internet, and why would you, at least do me one favor and record the moment when it comes. I look forward to having this debate with people when they call you mentally ill. |

Typeonenegative, your entire incoherent and intellectually handicapped rant is negated by the fact you don't understand what the definition of mental illness is. Add that to your apparent rejection of facts and your entire argument is impotent.

Re: Shooting at Jacksonville Arcade Live on Twitch
The only difference between a mental health episode and mental illness is frequency. That’s it. Literally everybody on earth can have a mental health episode. People who have constant mental illness, be it depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or something else, are not more likely to have violent outbursts than people like Nowak who had extremely strong mental health. People who say Mental Illness is the problem are the ones who don’t know what mental illness is. They think that a psychological break is mental illness. The mass murders we’ve had around the US have not been people with long-standing mental health concerns, treatments, and diagnoses. They’ve been people who had snapped due to specific stressors, such as relationships, Jobs, finances, religion, or in this case losing a video game. Mental health management may involve resilience to stressors, but mental illness does not. Blaming mental health for shootings is like blaming kidney health for diabetes. |
