Two victims were in critical condition as of Monday afternoon. The gunman, unidentified publicly, was shot by police and was in critical condition as of Monday afternoon. No clear motive has been determined. Authorities reported no known connection between the suspect and the victims, describing the attack as a "rampage" or "senseless violence." The investigation into the motive is ongoing. The suspect used a handgun and carried multiple magazines, indicating potential intent for a prolonged attack. |

Re: Shooter Kills 3 in Grand Sierra Resort and Casino Valet and Parking
He was identified by the Sparks Police Department as Dakota Hawver, a 26-year-old Reno resident. According to authorities, Hawver opened fire in the valet area of the resort, killing three people—Justin Aguila (33), Andrew Canepa (33), both from Southern California, and Angel Martinez (66), a Reno-Sparks residentand injuring three others. Aguila and Canepa were in Reno for a bachelor party and were shot from behind in the valet area while waiting for a ride to the airport. Martinez was ambushed in his vehicle in the parking lot by the suspect, who was hiding behind another car, and shot multiple times. He was shot by police and taken into custody, remaining in critical condition as of the latest reports. No known connection between Hawver and the victims has been established, and the motive for the shooting remains under investigation. Hawver had no prior criminal or documented mental health history. https://trellis.law/case/32031/fv24-...kota-hawver-um |

The second video is weird. Sounds almost like an old typewriter. Hearing all the gunshots and none of those people are even ducking. It’s like they can’t even hear the gunfire. It’s just a strange video to me.. |

Possible motive: He was involved in a child support case for a 4-year-old daughter. Court records show a case initiated over a year ago, with a recent ruling on July 21, 2025, increasing his monthly child support payment from $103 to $582, plus $5,700 in arrears. Payments were set to begin August 1, 2025.
