There is a border patrol station in Uvalde. It's on an easy route from the Del Rio border crossing to San Antonio so there are a couple check points that way...but the field office is in Uvalde.

He's got that screwed up look to him. I think a lot of this has to do with our screwed up society and social media. Kids only see the great stuff other people post and think their life sucks, when in reality it's not much different than that of their peers. Then you have the liberal man bun brigade that thinks everything is bad and is going to kill you such as the climate, etc. to stress out and mess with kids' minds and make them feel hopeless.
