A convicted baby murderer, described as “ruthless” and “heartless” by prosecutors, has been found dead weeks after being allowed to leave prison.
David Gaut, 54, was found dead with serious head and facial injuries on Saturday in his rented flat in New Tredegar. One of his neighbors said: ‘He was given a good beating. Some people are saying he should have the same treatment he gave to that baby. An eye for an eye’.
David Gaut was jailed for life after brutally killing a 17-month old child in South Wales 33 years ago.
Three men, including two said to be “close neighbors”, have been arrested in connection with the child killer’s death.
Daily Mail reports: Today Chi’s mother Jane Pickthall was shocked by the news and told MailOnline she had no idea he had been killed – but declined to comment further.
Gaut was released from prison in November and was housed in New Tredegar last month – but locals in his new neighbourhood found out about his sickening past using Google.

A man found dead 33 years after killing his girlfriend's toddler son went to the pub the day after the brutal murder.

David Gaut was looking after Jane Pickthall's two young children when he murdered 17-month-old Chi Ming Shek on February 28, 1985.


She arrived home and had sex with her live-in boyfriend, not knowing that her son lay dead in the next room.

Gaut went to the pub with a pal the following day, telling his friend he wanted to teach Miss Pickthall's children to learn how to box when they were older.

That day, the horrified mother found her son's dead body under a chest of drawers in his bedroom,

Three men are to appear in court on Thursday charged with the murder of Gaut, previously known as Tracy David Gaut.

On the night of the murder, Miss Pickthall, who was then aged 23, had been out drinking and left Gaut to look after her two young children.

She arrived home in Caerphilly at 1.30am and had sex with Gaut, who was living with the family in their maisonette, but the next day she found her son's dead body under a chest of drawers in his bedroom.

She could see her son was badly bruised in the groin area, chest and forehead.

The boy died of multiple injuries including a broken arm, injured liver and spleen and a fractured skull.

Miss Pickthall, who had split from her children's father, a Chinese man, told jurors at Gaut's trial how she cradled her dead son in her arms for an hour before asking neighbours to call emergency services.

Gwent Police said three men aged 47, 23 and 51 - all from the New Tredegar area - have been charged with Gaut's murder.

All three are due to appear at Newport Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

A life sentence in the UK doesn’t mean whole of life. It’s usually a minimum of 15 years but for more serious offences much longer. They don’t have to be granted parole at that point. There can be a minimum sentence after which parole can be considered.

They must have thought this guy was no longer a threat to society. Clearly others didn’t want to give him the chance to test that.

No one will mourn him, but those men are now facing a life sentence of their own. Not too sensible really

I just assumed life in prison meant, well the remainder of your life span. so until you died in prison or something,

yeah i read the uk usually has light sentences because the time is focused on rehabilitation.

Then you read wrong, we have light sentences because we have weak laws and even weaker judges to implement them.

As so far as it being about rehabilitation then you read the wrong article.
