Russian Woman Embalmed Alive After Hospital Blunder
27 year old Ekaterina Fedyaeva was in hospital for unspecified routine surgery. She was 'accidently' put on a formalin drip instead of saline. Her mother accused physicians of murder following the incident in her home city of Ulyanovsk, Russia. Ekaterina suffered horrible pains + convulsions for 2 days before falling into a coma. She was attached to a life support machine but her heart stopped beating several times. After being flown to another hospital, in Moscow, she briefly woke from her coma before dying of multiple organ failure.   |

Mum Galina Baryshnikova has accused the doctors of "murder" after the blunder. She described the moment she and husband Igor were in the ward when Ekaterina woke up from her coma. "legs were moving, she had convulsions, her whole body was shaking," she said. "I put socks on her, then a robe, then a blanket but she was shivering to such an extent, I can't even describe it. "The formalin was simply eroding her body from inside." Galina claims she begged the doctors to help, but they told her to go home and stop worrying. "For 14 hours after surgery she was living with this formalin and they did nothing," she said. Doctors told the frantic mum: "A medical mistake took place. Your daughter is in a coma now, her heart, lungs and liver stopped working." "I spoke to the criminal investigator, and he told me it was negligence," Galina said. "But this is pure murder."
