Re: Rookie Jersey City Cop Ambushed and Executed
Yup...unfortunately I think I've proven my point. Always such a pleasure to visit with the common folks that you put your life on the line for on a daily basis...such respect, support, and genuine concern for law enforcement.

Re: Rookie Jersey City Cop Ambushed and Executed
I don't mind cops but I have met my fair share who really are shitty people. Gotta love being treated like shit even when you are being respectful, and in my experience it only happened with young cops on power trips. Female officers can be especially bad for this unfortunately, doesn't help their stereotype. Most are cool though and we shoot together all the time with our club |

Re: Rookie Jersey City Cop Ambushed and Executed
Yeah it would be different if he was some corrupt cop or something. But not all cops are bad. This is just sick. And the admiration the killer is getting is messed up. Letting your kids admire someone who murdered someone for no reason? That's messed up parenting. Those people are the ones who should have been taken out. Not that I'm instigating violence, but if I had to choose.

Yup...I think I've got about thirty years of saying the same thing except with the following changes, "I don't mind civilians/taxpayers but I've met my fair share who really are shitty people. Gotta love being treated like shit even when you're being respectful and are just trying to help."

Re: Rookie Jersey City Cop Ambushed and Executed
When you look at that photo of those folks flashing their gang signs, writing that crap on the walls and t-shirts, and saying what they said about killing police officers, that our country has gone to total shit. When I was still working I always tried to treat everyone as a human and an individual. I wasn't always successful, but I really tried. I helped were I could and arrested when nothing else worked. And I ran into folks just like those people in that photo...they hated me for being nothing more than someone with a badge. They would've killed me in a heartbeat if I made any tactical mistake when I dealt with them. Police officers are paranoid...we're taught that in the academy and it's reinforced by every contact we have...if you want to survive to twenty years on the job, then you learn fast and never forget that there are people that will kill you just for what you represent. You can't reason with them, you can't change their minds, and you can't change them...they're just the scum of society and that's their role...all you can do is learn from them and try to be as safe as you can be while still doing your job.
