Re: Robin Williams Found Dead in Possible Suicide
I can't possibly decide whether Awakenings (in which Vin Diesel was in for 2 seconds - he too is affected because Robin was so kind to every extra he came across and made them feel like the star of the show) or World According to Garp is my favorite movie of his. He was an awesome comedian, but he could pull drama out of his hat on a moment's notice. People keep revering his comedic timing and it's true, he was awesome at improv and standup but... something he brought to those two movies is nearly indescribable and honestly, I can't think of another actor that is as good as him in drama either. |

Re: Robin Williams Found Dead in Possible Suicide
He made me cry, smile and laugh: the more I think about it, the more I realize how unique he was, he brought the Stanislavski's system to a never seen before level, Stanislavski himself would be amazed by his performances. Impossible for me to say what's my favorite movie of his, but i'll never forget what happened after they had shown Dead Poets Society at my school: nothing was ever the same, from that moment, in the relationships between teachers and students, teachers and teachers, students and students. My history teacher (she was definitely the most beloved one in the school) the same day, when we went back to the classroom sat on the desk, looked at us and said: "i'm not a good teacher, at all" and "today we all have learned a great lesson" and "we need to involve ourselves in each other's lives" and "there's a treasure hidden in all of us" and "only together we can build a better future" and "when your classmate, or one of your friends talks to you about something that makes him feel bad, LISTEN to him/her, and do all your best to ease his/her pain!". These last words weren't spoken by coincidence: 40 days before, a student took his own life by shooting himself with his father's gun. He was the richest student in the school, his father was the owner of one of the biggest coffee roasters in Europe, he was also nice looking: one day he realized that he was surrounded by fake friends, and that you can't buy friends or a woman who REALLY loves you. He felt lonely and hopeless, so he made the insane decision to kill himself. Now, can you imagine what happened to those 700 students (including me) when in the movie Neil committed suicide? In the movie Neil's father was the arsehole, but in reality, WE were somewhat responsible for his death, for doing nothing to open his eyes. And we all sympathized with him, John Keating, as we all had seen him as someone who carried out some serious attempts to improve the world. Now, i can say that i'm SURE he was the only actor suitable for playing John Keating. Damn, sorry for the length, I thought it was a nice way to pay a tribute and to tell how bright his star was for me. |

Re: Robin Williams Found Dead in Possible Suicide
These are last known photos of Robin Williams alive just 1 day before his suicide. He was said to be in very good spirits and talked to students about the art and seemed "engaged". These details make his suicide even the more shocking. |
