Re: Rob Reiner and Wife Found Dead in Home of Stab Wounds
Such a horrific tragedy. Reiner was incredibly talented, this is a big loss all around. Their own son killing them is hard to comprehend, unreal.

Re: Rob Reiner and Wife Found Dead in Home of Stab Wounds
Nick Reiner struggled with drug addiction from his early teens, starting with marijuana and Adderall, then escalating to heroin, cocaine, meth, and other substances. He entered rehab around age 15 and attended facilities about 17 times over several years, often becoming estranged from his family and experiencing homelessness in places like Maine, New Jersey, and Texas. He relapsed multiple times, including a notable period around 2018 when he trashed his parents' guesthouse while high on stimulants. He suffered a cocaine-induced heart attack on a flight. During sober living he resumed the drug use. In interviews tied to the 2015-2016 semi-autobiographical film Being Charlie (which he co-wrote with his father Rob Reiner), Nick explained that drugs were a way to "kill the noise" — referring to overwhelming inner mental turmoil. He emphasized that his issues stemmed more from underlying mental illness than the substances themselves, stating: "It was never about the drugs. All I ever wanted was a way to kill the noise. But the more I used the louder it got. He also cited pressure from growing up in a famous family (son of Rob Reiner, grandson of Carl Reiner) as a contributing factor to starting drugs. Later at The White House on Monday, responding to a question about the GOP pushback on his social media post and whether he stands by it, Trump said, "I wasn't a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person as far as i'm concerned." Controversial Georgia lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene lashed out at Donald Trump on Monday, Dec. 15, over the president's shocking social media post about the death of slain director and actor Rob Reiner. "This is a family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies," Greene, a Republican state representative and long-time Trump ally, wrote in a separate post on X. |

Re: Rob Reiner and Wife Found Dead in Home of Stab Wounds
Reiner was a good man, good father and incredibly talented at his artwork. He and his wife Michele were quite the duo. The son can go fuck right off. If you can do that to your own parents, who never gave up on your sorry ass, you can do it to anyone. I feel awful for the other children, especially the daughter that found them. Crushing. To know your parents were killed in a violent death and to know your brother did it. All I hope is that neither woke up to see their own son killing them.

Re: Rob Reiner and Wife Found Dead in Home of Stab Wounds
Nick Reiner's high-profile defense attorney, Alan Jackson (known for representing clients like Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Karen Read), withdrew from the case, citing "circumstances beyond our control, but more importantly, circumstances beyond Nick's control." Reiner is now represented by a public defender, Deputy Public Defender Kimberly Greene. The arraignment, where Reiner was expected to enter a plea, was postponed to February 23, 2026. Alan Jackson told reporters: "What we've learned... is that, pursuant to the laws of this state, pursuant to the law in California, Nick Reiner is not guilty of murder." This has fueled speculation about a potential mental health or diminished capacity defense, given Reiner's background. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman expressed confidence in securing a conviction, stating the office is "fully confident that a jury will convict Nick Reiner beyond a reasonable doubt."The Reiner family (Nick's siblings) has issued statements trusting the legal process and declining further comment. No trial date has been set, and the case remains in pre-trial stages. |
