When using stylus input on my tablet, it transforms cursive input to typed text faster than I can type it through the soft-keyboard. So cursive is better for that than "typing". Besides, being a fountain-pen geek, writing personal letters in cursive is a pleasurable manifestation of both my hobby and cultured maturity.  |

Maybe... But I know a very high end school district, that went for 5 or 6 years not teaching kids cursive. The children cannont read or write cursive in any way. They all print their names as well, can't write their own signature. Did the parents raise so much hell their kids were forced to learn? no. Do the parents teach their own children? no. Did teachers say bullshit and teach them anyway? no. Suburbia has been come as absent minded of its youth as the inner city. Most people who run schools in State governments are career politicians too, only two in TX were teachers/had any experience at all with schools of any kind, the rest were just people seeking public office. Really sad, but stupid adults make lots of noise, so all the better for them if nobody can teach their kids. Never send your kids to a public school. |
