Authorities have said that Peterson remains a suspect in his fourth wife’s disappearance. By Nina Golgowski New York Daily News February 9, 2015 Ex-Illinois police sergeant Drew Peterson, has been charged with trying to kill Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow, the prosecutor who led the trial that resulted in his murder conviction. Here we go again. Illinois wife killer Drew Peterson is facing new charges of trying to hire a hit man to wipe out the lead prosecutor behind his 2012 murder conviction. State and local prosecutors said the former Chicago area police sergeant attempted to orchestrate a hit on Will County State Attorney James Glasgow while serving out a 38 year prison sentence. The felony charges of solicitation of murder for hire and one count of solicitation of murder against the 61 year old carry a maximum sentence of at least 30 years in prison. Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow said the charges and alleged threat made against him by Peterson will in now way deter his work. In a statement, Glasgow expressed his thanks for prosecutors’ work on the case as well as his, “absolute faith,” that they’ll handle it appropriately. "It is unfortunate that prosecutors sometimes must deal with allegations of this nature. However, in no way will a threat to my personal safety deter me from the important work I perform as the State’s Attorney on behalf of the citizens of Will County," he stated. Peterson is currently serving time in a Randolph County Maximum Security Prison, where the charges were filed Monday, for the 2004 drowning death of his third wife, 40 year old Kathleen Savio. Peterson was sentenced to 38 years behind bars for the murder his third wife, Kathleen Savio, after his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, went missing in 2007. Those charges followed an investigation into the mysterious 2007 disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, who vanished at age 23. Authorities have said they believe Stacy is dead and that Peterson remains a suspect, but not charged. "He was a thug," Glasgow previously said of the ex-Bolingbrook cop after his sensational murder conviction that followed Savio's body being exhumed as part of their investigation. "He would threaten people because he had a gun and a badge. Nobody would take him on, but we took him on and he lost." Authorities have said they believe Stacy Peterson is dead and that her husband remains a suspect in her disappearance. Throughout the long, winding investigation into Peterson's vanishing wives, the ex-cop maintained his innocence, claiming that Stacy Peterson ran off with another man and was, in fact, alive. He further used his limelight to joke about a, "Win a Date with Drew," contest and suggested that he appear on a reality TV show about a Nevada brothel. He did not testify during his trial, but addressed the court after he was convicted, blaming prosecutors for, "the largest railroad job ever," and sarcastically telling Glasgow that the prosecutor could celebrate because he had destroyed Peterson's life. He challenged the prosecutor to look him in the eyes then told him to, "never forget what you've done here." Not enough prison time, in m humble opinion!
