A Policewoman Has Been Found "brutally Murdered" in Woodland
and her detective husband arrested on suspicion of murder ..... A policewoman was found brutally killed in woodland by colleagues who were searching for her after fears were expressed for her safety. The woman, in her 30s, was believed to have been taken from her £700,000 home and driven four miles to the dense woods where her body was dumped and concealed with leaves. A major police investigation into the death is underway, with forensic officers combing the wooded area in Blackdown Wood where the body was found. Senior detectives confirmed that she had been killed on Sunday night and that they found her body on the Surrey/Sussex border some hours later. They also revealed that the woman's husband, a 35-year-old detective who recently left the police force, had been arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife. Police initially rushed to the woman's home in West Street, Haslemere, Surrey, at about 11.30pm on Sunday night after a member of the public contacted them to raise concerns about the policewoman's safety. "Following inquiries officers then went to Blackdown Woods near Lurgashall, where a search of the woodland led to the discovery of the body of a woman in her 30s," said a spokesman for Surrey Police. "Police have cordoned off the area of woodland and forensic officers are on site carrying out inquiries. The woman's body has not yet been formally identified. "A 35-year-old man from Haslemere has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident and remains in police custody," the spokesman added. The body was found concealed with leaves and twigs. The police spokesman said that a pathologist would carry out a post mortem examination on the victim's body at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford on Tuesday. Blackdown Wood is part of the South Downs and owned by the National Trust. It is known locally as a popular walking spot. |

hes been charged now.... A man has been charged with the murder of his partner Detective Constable Heather Cooper. Peter Foster, a former police detective, was arrested on Sunday after the 33-year-old's body was discovered in Blackdown Woods in West Sussex. A post-mortem has revealed she died from a blow to the head and a cut throat. Mr Foster is believed to be working as a heating engineer after leaving Surrey Police around two years ago. A baseball bat and a knife were found at the Miss Cooper's home, police said. A Surrey Police spokeswoman said: "A post-mortem examination has given a preliminary cause of death in the investigation into the murder of Surrey Police detective Heather Cooper. "The examination, which was carried out yesterday at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, gave the preliminary cause as blunt force trauma to the head and incised wound to the throat." |
