Police State Too Much? Send in a Marine!
Most local law enforcement agencies will also hire an ex military with little to no homeland law enforcement training, over someone that has graduated a votech training course, or even having a degree in the field.

They are gearing up for the next wave of wars,Think about it our economy still sucks if we went to war tomorrow there would be mass protest because of money and other issues. They know if us Americans banded together in well organized masses they would be out of power. Or it could be they know something we don't and the shit is about to hit the fan  all I know is we are fucked all proper like and shit.
