‘Platinum’ Asteroid Potentially Worth $5.4 Trillion to Pass Earth Today
pretty awesome....though if someone could get their hands on that $5.4trillion woth of platinum it would only be worth a tenth of that, if that....the law of supply and demand

Yeah, probably in 50-60 years time or 100. Ever see a dumper truck on a building site clearing stuff? Those trucks weigh in excess of 30 tonnes without a load or more depending on its size. The digger which loads the earth into it is 20 tonnes or more. Now try and fly that shit out into the atmosphere within a set budget and connect it to other modules to fly to the asteroid. Then you have to get to the asteroid and mine it. Technology and ability is decades off even starting such an endeavour. |

Something to always consider when investing in precious metals! All you need is a massive source of said metal (or something that does the same thing) to be discovered, or way of creating something similar artificially to be thought up, and the value of your investment could potentially crash overnight.

Wow, hope they can find more uses for it. Scrubbing coal powerstations with this maybe? They say it gets dirty and needs some maintenance.
