I didn't even know Sheffield Shield existed.. Similar to cricket?
It's the name of the domestic competition

Freak accident. Back in the 90's a minor league hockey goalie much younger than Hughes took a puck directly to the heart and died, nothing could be done.

Re: Phillip Hughes (Cricketer) Dead at 25!

Found an original news report from when he was injured and indeed the game wasn't televised only streamed which would explain the quality of it.

Re: Phillip Hughes (Cricketer) Dead at 25!

Shit happens, if the guy was any good he wouldn't have taken his eye off the ball like he did. This is why he was often dropped from the Australian team, poor technique.
Rough.

Re: Phillip Hughes (Cricketer) Dead at 25!

I know but that's why the bouncer was delivered in the first place. Take into account as well he was on 63 and supposedly well established. He shouldn't approached that ball like he did
I don't have much sympathy for Australian cricketers I'm afraid, they have treated us like retarded cousins over the course of time.
When we beat them in Tasmania a couple of seasons ago Clarke couldn't even be bothered acknowledging the Black Caps after the game, sums that cunt up perfectly to me.
He also the season previously decided to abandon a one day series over here to go see his then girlfriend Lara Bingle because she was getting a rough time in the media back home.
At the time New Zealand was giving the Aussies arse holes in that series and his country needed him or so I would have thought.
Guess we are second class citizens to them, the feelings mutual.

Typical Kiwi inferiority complex.

Re: Phillip Hughes (Cricketer) Dead at 25!

You hold the same view with any batsman that gets hit in the head with a bouncer?
That they weren't any good?
