the ball will leave a fast bowler's hand at around 130-160kph by the time it gets to the batsman it has slowed down and in this case hit the batsman at around 85 kph the ball covers 20 metres in around .5 of a second the ball will leave a spin bowlers hand at around 85 kph, and of course will be travelling slower by the time it reaches the batsman i am not sure if this seems slow to anyone who follows baseball, but in baseball, it seems the ball has to go to a certain area and it does not bounce in cricket the ball can be bowled at the batsman's toes or his head, straight at them or to either side . . . . and of course it generally always bounces as well, which throws another element of surprise into it a horrible, tragic accident |

Some matches (I believe there were three 4 day games happening simultaneously when the incident occurred - and all three were abandoned after one days play and called draws)... I am not sure whether this game was televised or not though... I'm guessing it wasn't because all of the footage I found was grainy and just one camera angle of incident itself I think...
