A man whose heart stopped beating for hours claims he witnessed angels and spoke to God before miraculously waking up in hospital and making a full recovery.

Just days before Christmas Don Houston suffered a heart attack as he slept alongside his wife Rita.

She awoke to find the 62-year-old American with his tongue hanging and not breathing.

Frantically she called 911 who gave her lifesaving CPR instructions over the phone. However, her efforts were in vain.

Paramedics Frankie Burch and Carey Crump rushed to the scene, where they needed to use a defibrillator on three occasions to stabilise Don’s heartbeat.

He was then rushed to Oklahoma City hospital in critical condition and taken to the intensive care unit - but doctors were uncertain if he would regain consciousness.

They then told his wife there was nothing they could do.

“A doctor came out and said there is no response,” said Rita. “He’s not responding.”

At that point Rita asked if she could go into his room along with her family to pray for him.

As Don lay hooked up to a machine to keep his heart beating, they formed a circle around his bed and held hands to pray.

Rita added: “We all prayed and prayed and prayed and God heard our prayers.”

To everyone’s amazement, Don, who has a long history of heart problems, woke up.

He said: “I never suspected I’d go to bed and die but I did.”

Don then described how he had been greeted by angels in a white room and led back down to earth.

He said: “I was suddenly in a large white room. It was just white. Everything was so surreal, so peaceful.

"It was not a dream. It was so real. I mean it was REAL. Angels were there. God spoke to me. It happened.”

Don said he remembers a line of angels and a bright room with two distinct doors.

He claims he was escorted through the “door of second chances” and back to his grief-stricken family.

“The angel said, ‘Don, come with me.’

"We went through the doorway that she said and as soon as we went through that door I started hearing, ‘Don, Mr.Houston.’

"It was the doctors and nurses.”

Don said he believes he survived a massive heart attack for a divine purpose.

“I do know for a fact, there is something out there and you’re not alone,” he said.

“When you pass you’re not alone. There is something there to comfort you and help you along the way and they’ll lead you.

“You need to get God in your heart because you never know when you’re going to pass.”

You can't make this up. There have been many examples of people being given a second look at their life and it seems to all be along the same pattern. Religion is a universal concept involving all peoples from all over the globe. The minutia of practice has differences but all have a kindness and forgiveness aspect, the implementation and translation seems to be the biggest problem as control is very popular with mankind.
