Re: Parsons Green Attack: Many Injured by Explosion on London Tube
Police are continuing to question two men on suspicion of terror offences following Friday's attack on a Tube train in south-west London. It comes as CCTV images emerged showing a person carrying a Lidl supermarket bag 90 minutes before the bombing. An 18-year-old and 21-year-old are being held over the explosion, which injured 30 at Parsons Green station. The UK terror threat level has been lowered to severe after being raised to critical, its highest level. On Saturday, the 21-year-old, believed to be Syrian-born Yahyah Farroukh, was arrested in Hounslow, west London, and the 18-year-old was detained at Dover port. Local council leader Ian Harvey said he understood the 18-year-old was an Iraqi orphan who moved to the UK when he was 15 after his parents died. |

Re: Parsons Green Attack: Many Injured by Explosion on London Tube
The 21-year-old yahayh was arrested outside the fastfood shop where he worked in Hounslow on Saturday night, hours after the chief suspect was detained in Dover. Farroukh's Facebook page says he comes from the Syrian capital of Damascus and includes posts documenting his journey to Europe via Egypt and a refugee boat across the Mediterranean in 2013. More recent photos show him partying, shopping and out with friends, with posts on Instagram suggesting he smoked cannabis and took drugs. Last month, he posted emotional messages and photos of his father, who is thought to have died recently in Egypt. Farroukh's page says he has worked for nightclub promoters in London and studied English at West Thames College. He is thought to have a cousin who lives in Scotland with his children. Police have not confirmed details of his alleged links to the Parsons Green attack but former colleagues told The Independent they had "not even an inkling" of suspicious behaviour. “He didn’t look outwardly religious at all,” said Suleman Sarwar, who runs Aladdin's Fried Chicken. “He dressed like any other twenty-something: jeans, T-shirt, no distinct beard. Very, very, very normal.” Farroukh had prayed regularly alongside other staff and customers at the restaurant’s upstairs prayer room but showed no signs of extremism, he added. Farroukh lived with Ronald and Penelope Jones as a foster child. The couple has fostered more than 300 children over several decades at their home in Sunbury-on-Thames. In 2010 the Queen gave them both MBE awards for their work. The property was raided on Saturday ahead of Farroukh’s arrest, and was surrounded with an imposing metal police cordon while specialist officers investigated. |

Re: Parsons Green Attack: Many Injured by Explosion on London Tube
A third man has been arrested over Friday's Tube attack in Parsons Green. The 25-year-old was arrested in Newport, south Wales, on Tuesday evening, Scotland Yard said. An address in Newport is being searched. The arrested man worked as a painter and decorator for some local residents and was smiling during the arrest. Residents said the arrested man had lived in the area for many years and attended local mosques. "He was a nice guy, everybody knew him," one man said. "He was a student here and he worked as a painter and decorator." One mother added: "He did some painting on our house about two years ago. "He was a nice guy, he was very softly spoken. "He used to condemn terrorism in front of my husband, my husband would condemn terrorism and he would agree with him. "I know he is a Muslim but I don't know what mosque he went to. Muslims in this area are totally shocked, we condemn terrorism totally and we totally condemn what happened in London." |
