Re: Oklahoma Botches Clayton Lockett's Execution

One thing I really don't get is how the government tries to cover up the reality that death is harsh. So what if the guy is convulsing, burning or writhing around. The audience that came to witness It deserves to see the reality of what's happening, not just a censored version.
I respect places where it's public a lot more, places where they decapitate in a stadium or hang them off a bridge, if there's nothing wrong with it, televise it.... Why not? All this poisoning ( lethal injection ), is just making it more palatable for the masses, less messy, less bloody, just like putting a dog down.
great post. I never understood the whole 'closing the curtain' when things go less hollywood and more 'this is the reality of how someone dies'. You applied to watch someone die then cringe and cower when you see discomfort the reality of capital punisment should never be censored and I agree with you, footage of every state sanctioned killing should be released be it a homless man beaten to death by the police, leathal injection or a drone strike on a village

again I stress some people deserve to die and some people deserve to suffer but again there is not a state in the world I trust enough to advocate them having that power

That is one thing I think the US does wrong. We need uncensored news as well.

I honestly believe some people don't realize the damage that can be done with guns and cars when under the influence.

I love that Los Angeles had their program of taking young people to morgues to show them real dead bodies and what their bad choices can do. They were the first one I know of to do so.

It is the same ignorance that has all these women on, "Maury," trying to track down their baby daddies because they don't understand biology, or are too lazy to use it.

Re: Oklahoma Botches Clayton Lockett's Execution

It's been shown through statistics that places with Capitol punishment have the same crime statistics as places that don't. Social issues that effect crime rates is the X factor, not harsh sentences. No criminal would commit the crime if he/ she though they were going to get caught.
In certain instances though, this being one of them, it's hard to say a person this brutal deserves to live.
Exactly!! I agree. Poverty, violence and upbringing effect crime rates far more than possible punishments. Most people probably don't consider that they could get caught.

I think more capital punishment would be a deterrent. I've actually heard someone say "what are they gonna do, lock me up? Sheeeet that's 3 hots & a cot"

That person was probably an idiot. I wouldn't trade my freedom for three meals a day and a bed.
