Re: Ohio Player Pricks Foes in Handshake Line, Forces Tetanus Shots
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hepatitis_C http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hepatitis_B http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HIV http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dhqp/pdf/bbp/Exp_to_Blood.pdf Risk of HIV infection via needle prick: 0.3% Risk of Hep B via needle prick: 6-30% (unless vaccinated, then 0%) and 95% of older children and adults clear the infection, fully recover and become immune Risk of Hep C via needle prick: 1.8%. 50-75% clear the infection with treatment. Now, factor in the chances of the kids having any of the above beforehand to pass it "down the line" and the chances of the kids getting sick drop off considerably. So, my point is the chances of infection are small and the prognosis is good even if the kids do get infected. The kid was not trying to kill people, it was a prank. |
