Norwegian Hunter Faces Trial for Shooting 75-year-old Jogger in Southern Sweden

Quote:
Police in Sweden have released a video recorded by the electronic sights of the hunter who shot a 75-year-old jogger last November.

Olle Rosdahl was having an early morning run in countryside outside his home in Klippan, Skåne, at 4.30am when he suddenly received a bullet in his hip.

"I heard a blast and fell to the ground. I was shrieking 'What the hell kind of shooting is that'," Rosdahl told after it happened.

A 48-year-old Norwegian man was held for the shooting later the same day, but it was initially believed the shooting was accidental.

But after looking at the recordings saved by his phone, the prosecutor charged him with attempted murder.

The video shows the man slowly take aim at a dark figure, who buckles as the shot hits.

"The evidence to large extent consists of the film which shows what he was shooting at," Ola Lavie, the prosecutor in the case, told.

"If you look at the film, for me it is obvious that he is shooting a human being. I believe that from the film it's clear that this is an intentional shooting."

The hunter is denying the charges, claiming that he believed that he was tracking down and shooting a roe deer.

Lavie conceded that police have so far been unable to uncover a possible reason why he would have wanted to shoot Rosdahl intentionally.

Rosdahl "has no issues with anyone. He lives in the area and has no idea [why anyone would want to shoot him]", he said.

The man has also been charged with serious hunting crimes, as he was out shooting in the middle of the night using infra-red sights and illegal ammunition.

Olle Rosdahl lives outside Ljungbyhed in Skåne and is a persistent jogger and runs marathons. In the track record over the years there are 635 A-team matches in football, 25 marathon races and several other races.

Early on that Thursday morning, he took another six-kilometer workout near his home.

- It was just over four o'clock in the morning. It was early, but I had other things to do in the morning, Olle says.

The rally in reflex clothing went well - until he glimpsed the dwelling.

He collapsed
- Then suddenly it was just like it. I fell down and down on my knees, says Olle.

He says he understood that he was hit by a shot from someone who stayed somewhere in the forest along the highway.

- But I had no enemies, why would anyone want to kill me? That was how I thought.

Olle says he was prepared for someone to come and give him grace. At the same time, the blood escaped from the clothes.

- I collapsed and thought my last moment had come. But I used my last strength and got up. Then I rushed several hundred meters to one of my neighbors and threw myself on their alarm clock.

The neighbor was, of course, shocked by the incident, but helped Olle into the bathroom. He also called SOS and after just a few moments there was both ambulance and a lot of police in place.

According to the doctors at Helsingborg's hospital, Olle was hit by a bullet from a hunting weapon. It went in at the groin and out through the buttocks.

"The doctors said I had a bigger luck than if I won the highest win on Lotto," says Olle.

With only centimeters and millimeters, the bullet managed to avoid several vital organs. The kidney did just as well as the bladder and pelvis.

- It was a moose drill that was used. I heard the shot. But considering the bang, I appreciated that the shooter was just 50 meters from where I ran, Olle says.

While being taken to the hospital in transit, the incident caused a large search effort for the hunter in the forest.

What a liar

That black blob looked nothing like a deer, nor did it move like one.

He thought he shot an animal, so why not go to it after it fell?

Why not call for help when realizing he hit a human being?

poor older gentleman. just trying to make the best of his twilight years, out and staying in shape; then this assmunch comes along and makes this elderly living life, that much harder. hope this fella makes a full recovery and is out blazing the trails again soon. Should put the assclown in jail until he reaches the older dude's current age.

Had the older gentleman not been doing the best with his health he probably wouldn’t have been able to make it help and would have maybe bled out. So thankfully, at his age, he remained healthy and active!
