HOUSTON - Former Houston Astros pitcher and current Texas Rangers CEO/President Nolan Ryan was hospitalized after experiencing “discomfort” early Sunday at his home in Georgetown.

His hospitalization was confirmed by the Rangers in a written statement on Monday morning.

“Mr. Ryan will undergo tests on Monday for what is believed to be a recurrence of the heart condition which he has previously experienced,” read the statement. “Mr. Ryan is resting comfortably and reports he is feeling better. He is expected to be released from the hospital in a few days. The Rangers ask that you respect the privacy of Mr. Ryan and his family at this time.”

The Rangers declined to identify which Houston hospital the MLB great checked in to.

Ryan played for the Houston Astros from 1980 to 1988. He then played for the Rangers from 1989 to 1993 before retiring from the game. He was hired as Rangers team president in 2008.
