The religious sector of the GOP does everything in its power to silence promising young voices, voices of reform and progress (the good kind, ofc). I remember briefly registering Republican to vote for Ron Paul in 2008. I haven't touched the party ever since, but not because of Paul and his policy proposals. This authoritarian mindset that permeates the Christian right is anti-liberty, and one can argue, goes against core American values. I know a few Christians who reject this fascistic approach to matters, and I applaud their brave asses for their decision. Here's to hoping the Trump Admin does not allow too much of this influence, but knowing Pence's nature, my hopes are ill-fated. |
