I realize this is in NY, I'm from Chicago, we don't have metal detectors here, and I'm assuming none in NY? but this was my biggest fear taking the CTA downtown, the cars are packed to the doors during morning peak. Why hasn't the trainline companies in major cities installed detectors yet? seems so foolish for multiple reasons. The sheer fact that we have TSA for airlines but no screenings for trains. also crazy plan - throw smoke, open fire. don't think they caught the suspect yet, but it doesn't look like anyone died? Not sure what gun he used but if he had an AR it'd be such a mess. |

The MTA is insanely well funded. Conductors on those rolling turd tubes routinely make $200k+. Occasionally it approaches $400k+ w/overtime. Every natural or man made disaster results in the MTA getting billions, but service never improves and the subways have been de-policed. I'm a big dude but I no longer use the subways, they're getting scary AF. |
