PORTLAND, Oregon (Reuters) - A naked man who had been running and doing push ups in a Portland street was struck by a car and killed early on Sunday, police said.

Portland police said they received two phone calls about the man in a street in an industrial area of north Portland but the man was killed before they arrived at the scene. A third call said a car had hit the man, police said in a statement.

"The driver that struck the man remained at the scene and was cooperative," the statement said. The driver was not impaired by alcohol or drugs.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy, including a toxicology report.

fuckin portland the naked guy.. that's odd...but the number of pedestrians killed by being struck by cars in portland is outstanding! before i moved there, i had an acquaintance move down there. he lived there for a year before he was struck by a car and killed... when i moved down there, there were many people killed this way including a group of teens struck by a city bus it's nonsense.

and to think, for two years i lived there without a car, walking every where (about 5-10 miles on average a day) with my kids being pulling in a wagon.

You should have stopped showering and washing your clothes. Then people would've started mistaking you and your kids as a homeless family and started giving you money, with which you could've then bought a car.

I gave coupons to a man in a Dunkin' Donuts one day because he seemed to be counting every penny to get coffee. He looked unshaven and as if he could maybe need some cleaning up. Didn't smell though.

On his way out, he gave my niece $5.00. He had more than enough for coffee.

I saw a guy on one of those investigative shows who panhandled because he made more money in a day doing that than his job. Had a nice car, home, wife, kids.
