Unknown...this 'monkey' was handed into a zoo but nobody knows what species it is.

ZOO workers believe they have found a new monkey species after this little critter was handed in to them.

Keepers said they were unable to determine what the animal — with its hazel eyes and orange, brown and white dappled fur — was.

It was brought to the zoo by an anonymous man in Wenling, China.

Earlier this year, the same zoo hosted a "wedding" between seven-year-old male monkey Wukong and six-year-old female Xiaoya.

Zoo owners hoping the ceremony would attract more visitors must be pleased with their new attraction.

A strange-looking animal is keeping zoo staff guessing as to what kind of creature he is in China.

The weird but wonderful animal, with his dappled fur and prominent eyes, has yet to be identified by zookeepers, and was handed in by an anonymous man.

Staff at the Wenling, in eastern China, believe him to be some kind of monkey, but others have suggested his characteristics are more akin to a bush baby.

The zoo is monitoring his development, and are waiting to see if he grows into anything they can recognise .

Amazing isn't he? Wonder what he is right enough!
