Mum Arrested on Child Trafficking Charges After trying to Sell Her Kids on Facebook

A young mum has been arrested of suspicion of child trafficking after allegedly trying to sell her kids for $5,000 on Facebook.

Misty VanHorn, 22, allegedly contacted a potential buyer via the social networking site, asking for $1,000 for her 10-month-old and $4,000 for her two-year-old.

Police say the mum-of-two, from Sallisaw, Oklahoma, wanted the cash to pay bail for her boyfriend who was in jail.

She allegedly told the buyer on Facebook: “Just come to Sallisaw, it's only 30 minutes away and I'll give you all of her stuff and let y'all have her forever for $1,000.”

The unidentified female buyer, in Fort Smith, in neighbouring Arkansas, contacted the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, who alerted Sallisaw Police.

VanHorn was arrested on suspicion of trafficking children and is currently being held in Sequoyah County Jail, with her bail set at $40,000.

Her two children were placed into the care of the DHS, police said.

Neighbours told reporters that VanHorn had been trying to raise $1,000 to bail her boyfriend out of prison.

Local resident Tony Mosby said: “She was going door to door, here to all the way across town asking everybody for money to get him out.”

It is not known what offence he was being held on.

MORON. Doesn't she know the reward for tipping off law enforcement over human trafficking is quite a bit higher than 1 grand (as long as it leads to successful prosecution)

At least her kids are safe from her, now.

She does not deserve to have those precious babies back. Give to someone who will love & appreciate them. Children are priceless. I wouldn't pay a dollar for her or the boyfriend tho.
