Mr. Ding-a-Ling VS Sno Cone Joe * Update
GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. - The chilly relationship between rival upstate New York ice cream truck operators got out of hand this season, with Sno Cone Joe trying to chase Mr. Ding-A-Ling out of the market, authorities said Wednesday. Gloversville police told local media outlets two Sno Cone Joe operators face harassment and stalking charges after heated confrontations last month that included one of them yelling "This is my town!" at Phillip Hollister, a Mr. Ding-A-Ling driver, CBS affiliate WRGB reports. Hollister told police that Sno Cone Joe owners Joshua Malatino and Amanda Scott followed his truck, playing their music at high volume and trying to lure away customers with promises of free ice cream. "If I have someone behind me blaring their music and offering free ice cream it's a little ridiculous," Hollister told WRGB. Police said Malatino also called the suburban Albany headquarters of Mr. Ding-A-Ling and said "I own this town!" while claiming Sno Cone Joe controls the frozen treats market in Gloversville, a former manufacturing city about 35 miles northwest of Albany. Capt. John Sira said Malatino was warned this spring about similar behavior last year and police stepped in after an officer saw some of the activity while on patrol. "It's been an ongoing issue with other vendors that have been trying to sell ice cream in Gloversville," Hollister said. Malatino, 34, and Scott, 21, both of Gloversville, were charged Tuesday with second-degree harassment, a violation, and fourth-degree stalking, a misdemeanor. A message left for their lawyer wasn't initially returned Wednesday afternoon. I posted this story solely for the Mr. Ding-A-Ling.. really? it was quite funny hearing the news reporters saying it.. Nobody I know(knew) says Dingaling without it referring to a penis. Who would even think to name their ice cream truck/business that--what, just because of the trucks tune? Does it come with long cock? http://www.mrdingaling.net/ http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_1....y-police-say/ |

That is ridiculous. How does giving away your product give you an advantage over your competition? Your business won't improve that way. And yeah, Ding-a-ling makes me think of that Chuck Berry song. And we know he wasn't singing about ice cream. |

He describes the little toy he is singing about. It's in the dirty mind of the interpreter. True story here. When that song was popular, an old guy approached me in the record deparment with, "I don't mean to sound fresh here, but, did you ever hear of a song called, "My Ding-a-ling?" I told him I knew the song and it was by Chuck Berry. He thought the ladies at some old folks gathering would get a kick out of it. |

Do you honestly think Chuck Berry was singing about a toy bell? I mean, on the surface, perhaps. But I think what he was *really* referring to was a part of his anatomy. He clearly gave the lyrics a double meaning. I don't know that he could have gotten away with a song that out right referred to genitals back then. |

This put me in mind of the famous Glasgow Ice Cream Wars. Can't let these things get out of hand.

That's unbelievable! It could have been a movie, but, very sad that people felt they had to go that far The ones at the playground where I take my great-niece after school started with one guy, then, a woman and the guy. Now there is a new guy and once in awhile, a soft serve truck. I hope they never have those kind of issues. |
