Absolutely. I was brought up by the fear of getting the belt. I think it might have been a little extreme but I was brought up to have respect, courtesy, and what not.

Part of the problem with today's kids are they were never a swat on the ass or any kind of discipline. It shows as they are obnoxious, have no respect for authority or others, etc.
