A young post-90's mother in the Fujian city of Zhangzhou reportedly strangled her 10-month son to death during a live broadcast Saturday morning on QQ.com. The 19-year-old mother, surnamed Zou, announced to netizens that she would kill her child and broadcast the murder live on a QQ chat. She apparently murdered her son after having an argument with the baby's father.

Zou reportedly called an ambulance after strangling her son, and then reported the incident to the police after realizing her son could not be revived.

The young unmarried mother (legal age for marriage for females in China is 20) was living and working with her boyfriend in Hangzhou, leaving her child in the care of grandparents. Her family claims that she was on good terms with the child's father.

However, after recently returning from Hangzhou, Zou refused to allow anyone besides herself to touch her son for 20 days, and police are reporting that the mother confessed to killing the child to seek revenge on the child's father and his mother.

This is just the latest in a number of incidences of filicide in China this past summer, including two that occured in Shanghai alone (excluding the drunken argument that led to the murder of a baby in Xuhui district).

Perhaps the authorities need to mandate Parental Affection Education sessions or maternal work leaves to address this brewing disconnect people seem to be having with their children.

No, to be honest with you someone needs to track down that video. It needs to be seen by people to get them to understand the horror of a mother killing her child. Sure, it shocks them to read about it but to see it really gets their attention. People need to be more aware of how easily and often this kind of stuff actually does happen. I can't find the video but I'm sure there's someone on here that could.
