SpaceX launched its ****** 9 v1.1 rocket on Sunday, successfully sending NASA’s Jason-3 ocean-measuring satellite into orbit, but failed a return landing on a drone platform in the Pacific Ocean.

According to SpaceX CEO, one of the ****** 9’s legs failed to lock as it touched down, causing the rocket to topple in a “hard landing”.

The video shows the rocket toppling over on the drone boat.

The landing-fail reportedly may have been due to an ice buildup during the rocket’s liftoff.
