Model Dies After Falling Off KL Condo Balcony in the Nude

A Dutch-Belgian model fell off a condominium balcony to her death in Kuala Lumpur (KL) last Thursday.

Police said the model, who was found naked at the time of her death, was believed to have been under the influence of alcohol, Malaysian media reported.

The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Ivana Esther Robert Smit.

Her body was found on the balcony of a sixth-floor unit of the condominium in Jalan Dang Wangi, The Star reported.

She is believed to have fallen from the balcony of a 20th floor unit. Police believed she was intoxicated at the time.

Ms Smit was said to have been in the apartment with a couple - an American man and his Kazakhstan wife - after spending a night out with them.

The New Straits Times, citing sources, reported that she had been out drinking with the couple at an entertainment outlet in Bangsar before the incident.

It quoted a source as saying: "The three of them returned to the condominium before the couple went to their room, and Ivana rested in the hall.

"However, Ivana, who was in the nude, was believed to have walked to the balcony, (where she) fell over. She crashed through the awning of a sixth-floor unit."

Ms Smit was the second runner-up in Malaysia Supermodel Search 2014.

Dang Wangi district police officer Shaharuddin Abdullah said police have classified the case as sudden death.

"Our investigations so far and the post-mortem report show no elements of foul play," he said when contacted.

However, he urged anyone who has information on the case to contact the police.

The Dutch Embassy in Malaysia has asked Interpol to investigate the death of Dutch model Ivana Esther Robert Smit, who fell to her death at a condominium in Dang Wangi, Kuala Lumpur, last Thursday.

The embassy's request comes following a request by the model's family, who suspect foul play behind the 19-year-old's death.

The model's father wants her death investigated because he saw blue marks around her neck when he viewed her body at the morgue.

Smit's blood tests revealed that she had amphetamines, ecstasy and alcohol in her system.

Ivana's father, Marcel, told Dutch NL Times in The Netherlands that he believed his daughter was pushed from the apartment, where Ivana was staying with an American man and his Kazakhstan wife.

RTL Nieuws reported that police told Marcel that she fell at about 10am from the apartment.

“Very strange that the American couple did nothing from 10am to 3pm. Ivana's belongings were still in their apartment. The police tell me that the statements of the Americans are the same.

“My daughter can no longer contradict them," Marcel said.

He said the neighbours heard shouting and arguments in the American couple's room.

“We want justice,” he told the newspaper.

According to newspaper AD, Ivana had called her boyfriend around 7.25am last Thursday and told him that she was with an American couple after a night out.

NL Times said the Dutch Embassy in Malaysia had asked Interpol to look into Ivana's death.
