Missing Georgia Tech Student Found Injured Jumped Onto Moving Train
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nati...icle-1.2415124 Stupidity may be to blame for a missing Georgia Tech student's broken bones and bruising — not a violent mugging as previously claimed. Jimmy Hubert, 24, who was described as found left for dead along railroad tracks after vanishing for two days last week, apparently tried to jump off a bridge onto a moving train following a night of partying, according to a local report. The dangerous Oct. 16 stunt was meant to recreate the opening scene of the James Bond thriller, "Skyfall," with Hubert's nickname being 007, a source told CBS46. It instead left him suffering broken vertebrae, broken ribs, a punctured lung, bleeding in his brain and paralysis — in addition to hypothermia while left injured on the ground. After a frantic search by his Phi Delta Theta fraternity brothers, the aerospace engineering student was found more than 48 hours later, face-down and mysteriously under a pile of coats, police said. A concerned friend who reported him missing told Atlanta police that she believed Hubert was using recreation drugs and drinking alcohol the night he vanished, 11 Alive reported. According to an incident report obtained by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the fraternity vice president told his family that he was physically attacked after leaving the sorority dance. "He stated to his family when he was at the hospital that he was jumped by several guys," the report said. "He stated they robbed him. He was not able to give a full account of what happened." At the time of his recovery, his mother, Didi Olivia, was quick to come to his defense. "HE WAS MUGGED ROBBED AND HAD THE SH-- BEATEN OUT OF HIM," she posted following his Oct. 19 discovery. In a new statement, released by his family Wednesday, they said exactly what happened remains "unclear." "It appears that he somehow got aboard a moving freight train. How he did this is unclear. What happened between his time on the train and the time he was found remains a mystery. "Did he do something reckless? It appears that he did. Was there a robbery? Police are still investigating that." The part of their story that hasn't changed, they said, is their gratitude to his friends who found him. "Our priority is to focus on Jimmy's health, and he gets stronger every day. He is also remembering more each day, and we are fully cooperating with the on-going police investigation," they stated. |

Re: Missing Georgia Tech Student Found Injured Jumped Onto Moving Train
I didn't know about the racist allegations, Kellyhound. Thanks for posting that. I was wondering how he ended up under a pile of coats too. I'm thinking if there really is video of him jumping on to the train as has been alleged, it was likely his friends who recorded it. Which would mean they had some clue about where he was during those two days. Did the friends find him sooner than they claim and they covered him with coats? What was the goal? Wait for him to feel better so he could get up and walk away and no one got in trouble? Or wait for him to die so no one got in trouble? I don't see who else would have put coats on him. And his wallet was allegedly stolen but the thief missed the iPhone? I'm hoping more information comes out soon. |
