it is NOT an illness, it is ALWAYS a choice. no one ever wakes up and decides to do a little cancer.

every morning i woke up i had the choice whether or not to do drugs. yes, even as a drug addict i consciously gave this thought. i hated what i was doing. i wanted to stop. several times i did stop. for a few years even. but then i gave into the craving. eventually i wanted to be clean really really bad and i chose rehab. i have 20.5 years clean now. and yes, many of us do know the end game btw.

addiction/alcoholism is a choice not an illness. you may or may not have a genetic genetic predisposition for it, but it's still your choice.
