Re: Mexican Vigilantes Take Back Their Town from Cartel and Police

This isn't going to last long. While the media may proclaim these guys vigilantes, the Government sees them as terrorists.
Waco and Ruby Ridge come to mind.
Gone are the days of overthrowing the government with brute force alone. If modern guerrilla warfare is going to have any chance of success it must adapt to the digital age.
Hopefully these guys don't get their asses flattened by a tank.
If their hearts are in it for the right reasons, I'm rooting for them. What balls...

Ugh, I really hope you're wrong. It would be so cool if for once there was something revolutionary going on.

As far as the digital world being the solution, if you mean by using surveillance, drones shooting missiles as them, done by technology, then yes.
That's exactly what I mean. Hacking is really more like espionage than what is classically viewed as 'combat'.

Cyberwarfare in the UK

MI6 reportedly infiltrated an Al Qaeda website and replaced the recipe for a pipe bomb with the recipe for making cupcakes

As I pointed out earlier though, who is going to do it? Also what kind of results can we expect? Besides an insurgency into our own country and Mexicans causing problems here that we can't even imagine.

We've been fighting the so-called drug war for almost 30 years now. Things have gotten nothing but worse day after day.

I think it's time to try something new. Don't you? Or do you really think we should continue doing what hasn't worked for the past 30 years? Have you noticed the government hasn't used the term drug war for the past 10 years or so? There's a reason for that.
