We JUST had a mass shooting that took the lives of 18 people. Who gives a flying fuck about an alcoholic ex-celebrity from the 90s? He was probably the least engaging of the Friends cast, behind Monica's bony OCD ass. Ross and Rachel had the best storylines; Phoebe was quirky and weird; Joey was cute and had an innate humor to him that didn't have to be broadcast the way the writers did with Chandler to make him fit in. In the original idea for the series he was supposed to be a gay character, but you couldn't have THAT in the 90's, so they turned him into the comic relief...in a comedy series. An abortion of a character. |

I never understood the fascination about "Friends." A cautionary tale about the evil of substance abuse. I was surprised to read he was 54 years old. He looked at least 75 years old and his insides probably looked 95 years old. He had everything a person could want in life and he threw that all away on drug and alcohol abuse. I'm not moved by his death.  |

In this day and age there is a very nostalgic 90's feel about the early seasons of the show. The first three or four seasons were pretty entertaining; it goes downhill from there, but by then you are already hooked into the character's lives and want to see what happens to them. You can definitely see the change in Perry (Chandler) as the series progresses. He gets really fat and red in the face. |
